MADDY TODD
This is a series of collected plastics that are constructed in two different locations to represent beach and household plastic pollution. The everyday and man-made objects become a materialistic existence where it could be argued that the current global crisis of COVID-19 has shown how precarious this existence is.
From hand collecting to creatively constructing the different objects, it gave me a big distraction from everyday life, particularly when Covid-19 lockdown had hit halfway through this project. Before the virus even existed, I could join and help other volunteers pick-up washed-up plastic debris then create small fragile sculptures in a professional studio. But months after that it wasn’t allowed so I used what I had in my household and get creative.
